Youngman, Roger Ray

Roger (Rod) Ray Youngman, age 61, of Blacksburg died, Friday, October 21, 2016, at his home. He was born in Downey, CA. on July 2, 1955. He was preceded in death by his father, Marshall, his brother, Steve.

He was a professor of Entomology at Virginia Tech from 1988 until 2013. Rod had a strong faith and was a member of Blacksburg Christian Fellowship. He had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed sports such as surfing and skiing and was active with Boy Scout Troop 704.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy, daughter, Erin, son, David, mother, Mary, grandson, Samuel, brother, Gary.

Memorial Services will be conducted Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 4:00 pm in the Blacksburg Christian Fellowship. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg Christian Fellowship, 2300 N. Main St., Blacksburg, Va. 24060. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
