Rev. Young graduated with a BA from Mars Hill University and received his Masters of Divinity from South Eastern Theological Seminary. He pastored numerous churches all over Colorado and North Carolina from 1964 to 1995. A dedicated pastor, he traveled as a missionary to various countries and served with the Southern Baptist Mission Board and disaster relief teams. Along with his wife, Kathy, he especially enjoyed organizing children’s bus ministries and various theatre productions for the church.

After formally retiring from the pulpit, Rev. Young continued working in various capacities, such as driving a bus for Wake Forest University, working event security for Show Pros, and being a Local Coordinator for Premier Productions Christian Concerts. He was especially passionate about serving with SORT (Special Operation Response Team), a federal disaster organization. One of his favorite positions was being Ringmaster in the family clown business, Premier Clowns Unlimited.

Rev. Young served the Lord and ministered to everyone he encountered in all walks of life. He led hundreds to the Lord and became an honorary father to many people. He loved his children and grandchildren more than words can express, and even played dolls with his granddaughter. Rev. Young lovingly cared for his wife of 56 years. His hobbies were camping, riding horses, hunting, fishing and NASCAR.

This son, brother, husband, dad and granddad was an incredible man of God, with a servant’s heart. He exemplified integrity, character, devotion, and loyalty, all with a fun sense of humor. With kindness and compassion for people, he lived life to the fullest. Rev. Young was a gentle giant, a teddy bear with an infectious smile and hearty laugh that lit up the room. He was an instant friend to all who met him, and many have described him as a warrior, fighter, and survivor. The world will never be the same without him.

“The time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing. “ 2 Timothy 4:6-8
