He is survived by his wife, Tammy; and daughter, Kaitlyn. He is also survived by Tammy’s children that loved him dearly, Sarah Beckner and husband, Brad, Melissa Merrill and husband, Dave, and Bobby Haynes; eight grandchildren, Meagan, Olivia, Jared, Caylee, Riely, Devon, Ian, and Hannah; twin sister, Barbara Allen and husband, John; nephews, Sam and Patrick; in-laws, Kaye and Frank Sellers, and Jim and Elaine Dull; and numerous other relatives. Bob was an accomplished trombonist playing with many Big Band Orchestras. He taught Band and Special Education for many years in Botetourt and Floyd counties before suffering a traumatic brain injury in 2004. A period of visitation will be held on Wednesday February 10, 2010, at Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd, from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2010, at Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dick Giessler officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park, Roanoke. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to BISSWVA (Brain Injury Services of South West Virginia) in Bobby’s name.
