Young, Gerald A.

Gerald (Jerry) A. Young of Blacksburg went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on June 9, 2015 after a long-term illness. He was loved by his family and will be truly missed.

He was born in Randolph, NY; to the late Vernon Adams Young and Myrle Acker Young. He was retired from Corning, Inc. as a 38 year employee and was a longtime member of the Blacksburg United Methodist Church.

He is survived by the love of his life, wife Carolyn Brown Young and three sons Peter Scott Young of Atlanta, GA; James Douglas Young of Orlando, FL and John David Young and wife, Anne Sachse Young and grandchildren Matthew and Meghan Young of Horseheads, NY. He also has a younger brother Ronald Vernon Young and wife, Nancy Young of DuBois, PA. His youngest brother John Asa Young preceded him in death at 29 years of age in 1972. He also has a brother-in-law Dr. David Chadwick-Brown, Carolyn’s brother of San Diego, CA.

Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family in New York at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Blacksburg United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 931, Blacksburg, VA 24063, or to the Salvation Army, 760 Roanoke Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073.  The family will receive friends Saturday, June 13, 2015 from 3:00-4:00 pm at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
