Young, Brenda Gail

Brenda Gail Young, 65, of Rich Creek, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, May 31, 2016 at Heritage Hall Nursing Facility in Rich Creek, Va. Born on September 11, 1950, in Tazewell, Va., she was a daughter of the late Samuel Kent Young and Dorothy Sparks Young Daniels.

She was also preceded in death by her beloved step-father Charles A Daniels; her aunt, Ruth Collins and aunt, “Tiny” Letha Anderson.

At the age of eighteen, Brenda became one of the family at the nursing home. She was a greeter to everyone coming and going and quickly became a friend to anyone fortunate enough to pass through her life. With her infectious smiles and laughter, she would often let others know that VT is her team! Through her frequent hugs and her amazing blue eyes, her faith in Christ truly blossomed.

Left to cherish her memory, her aunt, Wanda Smith; sister, Donna Sue Young Bowers; cousin, Carolyn Bullion; and several other cousins. The past and present staff, residents and volunteers of Heritage Hall, and an array of friends who will always fondly remember Brenda.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2016 held at Rich Creek United Methodist with the Rev. Aubrey Whitlow and the Rev. Betsy Switzer officiating. Visitation and viewing will be from noon until time of the service. Burial will follow in the Southside Cemetery next to Mt Lebanon United Methodist Church at Hoges Chapel near Pembroke.
