Yopp, Betty Guilliams
At 80 our dear beloved “Mom” and “MawMaw” Betty Guilliams Yopp passed gracefully and peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2022. While our hearts ache for ourselves we praise God for his loving kindness and mercies and know she is in Heaven singing and praising his name.
Betty was born October 14, 1942 in Franklin County but lived most of her life in Floyd County. She graduated from Check High School . After graduation she attended Roanoke Memorial School of Nursing and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She dedicated her life to nursing and was well loved by her patients and co workers. She always had a smile on her face and was such a gentle Godly woman . Her family and church were her life and she was a faithful member of Mount Union Church of the Brethren.
She is proceeded in death by her loving husband of 42 years Jerry Yopp;her father and mother Alvie and Ora Guilliams; brothers, Joel,Marlon and Cecil Guilliams; sister, Brenda Jamey and many other extended family members.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Timothy and Donna Yopp daughter, Laurie and her husband Perry West; daughter, Kristie and her husband Eric Greenman. Betty was the most loving “MawMaw to her grandchildren, Mason (Hannah) Yopp, Makenna Yopp, Ethan West , Carson West , Emma West, Madison Greenman and Garrett Greenman. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Garnet Hypes; sister-in-laws, Dorothy Guilliams, Jean Guilliams, Patty Hodges, Linda Harden and Joyce Yopp and brother-in-law, Walter Holland. She leaves behind so many other family members and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, January 2, 2023 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Oakey’s South Chapel, Roanoke Virginia. Funeral services will be 10 am Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Oakey’s South Chapel officiated by Mason Yopp (Betty’s grandson). Following the service, interment will be at the Yopp Cemetery in Franklin County by Greg Fleshman.
