Yates, Frank James

Frank James Yates, formerly of Shawsville, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at the age of 87. He was born in Montgomery County on January 31, 1927, to the late Oscar and Berta Yates.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rebecca Yates; son, Steven Yates; brother, Carl Yates; sisters, Marie Yopp, Edna Womack, Tina Dickerson, Hazel Barnett, and Ruby Lemon; and special nephew, Dale Lanier.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Teresa Smith (Harold) of Roanoke; son, Shawn Yates (Tanya) of Austin, Texas; stepson, Michael Willis (Ollie) of Supply, N.C..; stepdaughter, Barbara Moran-Henry (Frank) of Roanoke; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Nellie Epperly of Pilot, Va.

The family will receive friends at Simpson Funeral Home on Saturday, December 20, 2014, from noon to 2 p.m. Funeral Services will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Charlie Yopp officiating.
