Yates, Edith S.

Edith S. Yates, 88, of Shawsville, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015. She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Yates and son-in-law, Gene Akers.

Edith was a very loving mother and grandmother that loved her doll collection and cooking for her family.

Left to cherish her memory are children, Danny Yates (Lucy), Mary Akers, James Yates (Barbara), and Penny Lawson (Joel); grandchildren, Lisa Altis (Bruce), Tammy Hester (Paul), Danielle Youne (Robbie); five great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Bell, Marie Shark, and Shirley Barlow; brother, Ray Spangler and special friend, Jan Fugate.

Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Oak Grove Church, 641 Craigs Mtn. Rd., Christiansburg with the Rev Kenneth Kingery officiating. Interment to follow in the Congregational Holiness Cemetery, Shawsville.

Mrs. Yates is entrusted to Valley Funeral Home.
