Wyms, M. Lorene Lewis

Ms. M. Lorene Lewis Wyms, 88, (affectionately known as “Mama Lo” or “Lo”) transitioned from this life to her eternal home on Wednesday morning, July 12, 2017 at Radford Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Ms. Wyms was born February 28, 1929, the second child of Deacon Harry and Missionary Myrtle Lewis of Radford. She was educated in the Radford School System and she graduated from Christiansburg Institute. She was employed by Radford University and retired after nearly twenty-seven years in the department of Facilities Management – Housekeeping Unit. She was member of the Radford Church of God in Christ where she served faithfully.

Ms. Wyms is survived by her children, Mrs. Francene Thompson, Mrs. Connie (Terry) Phillips and Mr. Neal Wyms, all of Radford; one stepdaughter, Ms. Candy Day of Christiansburg; one brother, Mr. Thomas Lewis of Ft. Leavenworth, KS; a loving aunt, Mrs. Agnes Clark; four grandchildren, Keith Lewis, Jonathan Phillips, Loren Phillips, and Gabrielle (Paul) Wyms-White; four great-grandchildren, Whitney Parker, Eric Wyms, Ethan Wyms and Elle White; and several other relatives and friends.

Family visitation will be on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 7 to 9 p.m. The celebration of life will be held on Monday, July 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Radford COGIC, 206 Russell Avenue, Radford, VA. with Dr. Ronald A.Watson Sr. officiating.
