Vance Cleveland Wright, 84, of Pulaski, formerly of Bastian went to be with the lord November 7, 2009, from Pulaski Health & Rehab. Center. He is the son of the late Grover and Nellie Nunn Wright. Along with being predeceased by his parents were two brothers, James and William Wright.

He was a member of the Bland American Legion Post and of the Green Valley Methodist Church. Vance served in World War II in addition to serving in the South Pacific with the Navy Seabees.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Wright; four daughters, Deena Stowers and husband, Don, of Pulaski, Darlene Jackson and husband, Jim, of Wytheville, Ava Marlene Wright and husband, Eddie Smith, of Aiken, S.C., and Gayla Cline, of Virginia Beach; two sons, Carlyn Wright and wife, Lucy, of Princeton, W.Va., Kerry Wright and wife, Nancy, of Bastian; one brother, George Wright, of Bland; two sisters, Flossy Strader, of Fairlawn, Barbara Repass and husband, Raymond, of Bluefield, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Jonathan, Randy and Paul Wright, Kim and Todd Jackson and Tracy Gracia; two stepchildren, Crystal Altizer and Paula Jackson; nine great grandchildren; and nine step great -grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate with the Rev. Alan Ashworth, the Rev. Bobby Lorton and the Rev. Hugh Kilgore officiating. Military graveside rites presented by the Bland VFW Post #7969 in the Shiloh Cemetery, Hollybrook, Wednesday at 2 p.m. The visitation will be Tuesday after 2 p.m. at the funeral home and the family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until service time. The family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
