Clarence Alvin Wright, Sr., 81, of Max Meadows, Va. died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, in the Wythe County Community Hospital, Wytheville. He was born in Carroll County on Dec. 17, 1925 and was the son of the late Sherman Earle Wright and Hattie Hinkley Wright. Mr. Wright was a veteran of the United States Army and a retired employee of Lynchburg Foundry.

Surviving are: his wife, Lottie Wright, Max Meadows; daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Ray Tittle, Linda and George Canceran, Barbra and Tommy Lindsey, Patricia and Tony Zerrila, Deborah and Lee Coley; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Elaine Wright, Clarence and Mary Ann Wright, Tony and Teresa Wright, Robert and Darlene Wright, Timothy Wright and Kimberly Moore; step-son, Wendsell Bain and Lisa; best friend, Robert Pennington; brother and sister-in-law, Jessie and Frances Wright; sister and brother-in-law, Leona and Harrison Hobbs; 27 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with Brother John Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin with VFW Post #1184 conducting the military graveside rites. Visiting will be Tuesday evening at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family would like for donations to be made to Stevens Funeral Home to help in handling the funeral arrangements.
