Simon Franklin (Sam) Wright, 83, of Christiansburg, died on Thursday, May 5, 2011, at his home. He was born in Pulaski, Va., on October 9, 1927, to the late Lee and Nora Duncan Wright.

He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Ola Cress Wright; two sisters, Stella A. Wright and Thelma (Boots) Lawson; and two brothers, Henry and Harry Wright.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church. He retired from the Lynchburg Foundry.

He is survived by his wife, Betty W. Wright; daughter and son-inlaw, Rebecca and Marvin Huff; son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Terri Wright; grandchildren, Vonda Dillon, Shana Roop and husband, Richard, all of Christiansburg, and Lee Harless, of North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Trey and Lacie Dillon, Nikki and Ricky Roop; brother, Dale Wright, of Parrott; stepbrothers, Roy Wright and wife, Robin, Junior Wright and wife, Juanita, Bobby Wright, and Jerry Wright; and stepsisters, Betty Bentley, and Linda Gibson and husband, Grover.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Matthew Kirkland and Pastor Bob Bellman officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. Friends may call anytime after noon on Friday, May 6, 2011, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.
