Lydia Roeske Wright, 79, of Blacksburg, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2016. She was born on April 5, 1936 in Mexico City, Mexico to Russian immigrants, William Ernest Roeske and Lydia Dennhardt Roeske.

An only child, Lydia attended Texas Western College in El Paso, TX. Shortly after earning a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, she married Reverdy Edmond Wright of Sarasota, Florida. Lydia retired from the George Mason University Library and previously worked at the Virginia Tech Library. She especially enjoyed knitting, caring for plants, and traveling with her husband and family.

Lydia is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Reverdy Wright and by her daughters: Tamara (Danny) Knott of Christiansburg, Virginia; Branwen Wright of Chautauqua, New York; and Enid (Sam) Wilson of Gulf Breeze, Florida as well as her grandchildren: Jacob Wilson, Casey Knott, Abraham Wilson, Morgan Knott and Gabriel Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arbor Day Foundation or the Interfaith Food Pantry of Blacksburg.

A memorial service, with Pastor Bill King officiating, will take place at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 13, 2016, at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, 600 Prices Fork Road, Blacksburg, VA 24060. The family will receive friends following the service.
