March 18, 1962 – May 14, 2018 William (Darren) Worrell of Floyd, Virginia, peacefully passed away Monday, May 14, 2018 with his wife Tammy by his side.

Darren was a devoted member of Sky View Missionary Baptist Church in Fancy Gap. Darren had a huge heart, never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a smile and a joke. His priority was taking care of others including his mom, his dad, his mother-in-law, his sisters, his sister-in-laws and anyone who crossed his path that needed a hand. He worked at C.W. Harmon and Sons for many years as a small engine mechanic.

He considered everyone at “C W’s” family. Darren also has special lifelong “brothers”, Roger Beasley, Grey Worrell, Darrell Cockram, and too many others to list. Their stories are legendary.

Darren is survived by his wife of over 25 years, Tammy; and his beloved son Cole. He is also survived by his parents, Eldridge Worrell of Mount Airy, N.C. and Sue Worrell of Hillsville. Other survivors include his sisters, Tabitha Worrell, Cecelia Worrell; his nephew, Bryant Worrell, his nieces, Kaley Nester and Gabriel Worrell; his mother-in-law, Frances Helms; his sister and brother-in-law, Melanie and Bump Matthews and his sister-in-law Mona Helms. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edgar and Opal Worrell, Elden and Pauline Largen; and his father-in-law Dorris Helms. He is also survived by hundreds of friends in Floyd and Carroll counties.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Sky View Baptist Church at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Wendell Horton officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to SameFight (samefight.org) or Sky View Missionary Baptist Church 129 Skyview Drive, Fancy Gap, VA 24328.
