Worrell Sr., Douglas G.

Douglas G. Worrell Sr., age 86 passed away, Sunday, January 04, 2009 at Montgomery Regional Hospital, Blacksburg, VA. Born March 11, 1922 at Hillsville, VA, he was the son of the late Grover Reed and Penelope Cock Worrell.

Mr. Worrell was retired from the Celanese Corp, a World War II, U.S. Army Veteran, of the Baptist faith and loved to farm.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Drema Hanson Worrell; one daughter, Elizabeth Worrell and one granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Worrell, two brothers; Delton “Red” and Driscoll “Drick” Worrell and two infant sisters. Survivors include three sons; Doug Worrell, Jr. and wife Diane of Eggleston, VA, Ronnie Worrell and wife Renee of Bozoo, WV and Tracy Worrell of Peterstown, WV, one daughter; Theresa Cook and husband Lewis of Hinton, WV, one brother; Connie Worrell and wife Joyce of Hillsville, VA, five grandchildren, Kandace Stroupe and husband Nick, Tina Graveley, Shanon Worrell and Steven, Kevin Cook and wife Lexi and Kristin Cook and three great grandchildren, Odell, Braxton, and Layla.

Services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, WV with Rev. John Offenberger officiating. Burial will follow with military rites in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville, WV. Friends may call from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the funeral home.
