Theron L. (Jay) Worrell Jr., 59, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born June 8, 1952, in Lompoc, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theron L. and Eva Armbrister Worrell; a brother, Jerry Armbrister.

Jay worked for Pulaski Furniture and Ethan Allen all his life until his health no longer allowed him to work. Jay had many loves in his life: his family, grandchildren and working his garden, but most of all, his love of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Donna Viars Worrell, of the home; two daughters and spouses; Donna and Ron Whitaker, of Max Meadows, Regina and Kenny Collins, of Max Meadows; four grandchildren, Kaitlynn Worrell, of the home, Autumn Whitaker, Eric Whitaker, and Brooke Collins; two sisters and spouses, Sue and Garnett Gilbert, of Claremont, Sharon and Mike Wilson, of Lyman, S.C.; two brothers and spouses; Kenny and Cindy Worrell, of Max Meadows, William “Billy” and Pat Worrell, of Forest; aunt, Lillian Corvin, of Wytheville; sisters-in-law and spouses, Norma Jean Armbrister, of Wytheville, Margaret Williams, of Roanoke, Brenda and Skeeter Worrell, of Elliston; brothers-in-law and spouses, Larry and Kaye Viars, of Max Meadows, Jerry and Joyce Viars, of Austinville; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 13, 2012, at the Reese Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Floyd Dennis William officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2012, at the Sanders Cemetery.
