Woodyard, Virginia Mize

Virginia Mize Woodyard, 88, of Pulaski, Va., was welcomed into Jesus’s loving arms Saturday morning, September 4, 2010, in Pulaski Community Hospital. She was born October 8, 1921, in Atkins, Va., and was the daughter of the late Selma Leila Wolf Mize and William Crockett Mize.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Margaret Cole; and two brothers, Ben Mize and Thomas Mize. She answered to Virginia, Woody, and Ginny and served the Pulaski Medical Community for many years. She first began her nursing career at Pulaski General Hospital and before retirement, she was a nurse for Dr. James Hylton for 21 years.

She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 62 years, Wallace W. Woodyard; several nieces and nephews; and three dedicated caregivers, Janice Clark, Nellie Pettit and Nina Lane.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Seagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. C.R. Conner and the Rev. David Dennis officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be after 9 a.m. Tuesday morning at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. service time.
