Woodyard, Mattie Roberts

Mattie Roberts Woodyard, 97, of Pearisburg, went to be with the Lord Monday, December 24, 2012, at Golden Living Blue Ridge in Galax. Mrs. Woodyard was born February 22, 1915, in Crewe, and was a daughter of the late Jesse F. Roberts and Lizzie Poole Roberts.

Besides her parents, two brothers and three sisters, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ephraim Stanley (Buck) Woodyard.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley R. (Bucky) and Jean Nowlin Woodyard, of Christiansburg, William Daly (Lucky) and Shelia McClanahan Woodyard, of Hillsville, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted noon Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Givens Funeral Chapel with burial following at the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 11 a.m. to noon.
