Matthew Shawn Woodyard, 29, of Winston-Salem, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, in Winston-Salem, N.C. He was born on July 17, 1981, in Radford, Va. Matthew attended school at the Berean Baptist Christian School in Winston-Salem, N.C., and he was also a current student at Guilford Technical Community College at the Jamestown/High Point location in Winston-Salem, N.C. He is survived by his parents, the Rev. Rayburn D. and Betty J. Woodyard, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one brother, Brad Woodyard, of Pocahontas, Va.; two sisters and brother-in-law, Sabrina and Mike Smith, of Kernersville, N.C., and Courtney Woodyard, also of Kernersville, N.C.; maternal grandmother, Lena Stafford, of Dublin, Va.; one nephew, Brandon Woodyard, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two nieces, Brianna Woodyard, of Pocahontas, Va., and Madison Smith, of Kernersville, N.C.; and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at the A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, Va., with the Rev. Darrell Greene and the Rev. Billy Akers officiating. Burial will follow in the Hunter Cemetery of Little Creek, Dublin, Va. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 21, 2011, after 2 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
