Woodyard, Elsie Dickerson

Elsie Dickerson Woodyard, 72, of Blacksburg, Va., died on Monday, November 9, 2009, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was born in Montgomery County, Va., on April 24, 1937, to the late William Frank and Eliza Mae Caldwell.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Marvin Dickerson and Allan Woodyard; a daughter, Barbara Gillenwater; one sister; and three brothers. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald Dickerson (Debbie Nance), of Pearisburg, and Jimmy Dickerson (Melanie Collins), of Christiansburg; daughters and sons-in-law, Doris Dickerson (Lee Cochran), of Christiansburg, and Susan Higgs (Ron), of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Greg and Jamie, Shannon and Wayne, and Candice; great grandchildren, Ayden, Austin, and Kaitlynn; brother and sister-in-law, Saford and Elsie Caldwell, of Long Shop; sisters, Shirley Sheppard, of Long Shop, Joan Collins, of Georgia, and Mary Frances Dickerson, of Blacksburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2009, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jube Burk officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Friends may call any time after noon on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg, Va.
