Woodyard, David Allen
David Allen Woodyard, 93, of the Little Creek Community, Dublin, VA, passed away Friday, March 3, 2023 at his home. He was born August 22, 1929 on Little Creek, the last remaining child of the late Albert Sidney & Rhoda Meadows White Woodyard.
Allen was a man who lived by example. He had a strong faith and prayed often. He believed in the value of family and took his vows of marriage very seriously. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a sergeant during the Korean War and was a proud member of the Pulaski County VFW Post# 1184. He was a master heavy equipment mechanic and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 147, for 72 years. He enjoyed taking rides, especially on roads he never traveled previously. He never missed an opportunity to take his family on vacation and traveled all over the country. He was a wealth of wisdom, a loving father and husband, and will be missed greatly by those who knew him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Patricia Linkous Woodyard, his son, David A. Woodyard, Jr., his daughter-in-law, Sherri Woodyard and his brothers & sisters, Lacy, Trinkle, Cecil, Robert, Ray, Billy, Clowers, Ran, Carl, Dollie, Hazel and Roxie.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Curtis Woodyard, of Windsor, VA; his daughters & sons-in-law, Sue Rzucidlo, of Reidsville, NC, Brenda & Donnie Manning and Christine & Tim Ramsey, all of Dublin, VA; his numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Sharlene Woodyard, Phyllis & Harold Kirk, Douglas Linkous and Jeannie Linkous and numerous nieces, nephews and special neighbors.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 6, 2023 at 11:30 A.M. at the Church of the Living God with Bro. David Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Hunter’s Cemetery where military rites will be provided by the Pulaski County VFW Post# 1184 and the Virginia Military Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 A.M. until service time, 11:30 A.M.
