Woodyard, Barbara Ann

Barbara Ann Woodyard, 60, of Poplar Hill, VA was greeted at the pearly gates of Heaven and strolled down the streets of gold as she passed from this life on Saturday, December 23, 2017. Born on January 8, 1957, Barbara was the firstborn child of Emory C. Woodyard Jr. and Jean White Woodyard. Barbara, known lovingly by many as “Barbie,” was one of the purest, most loving people to ever walk the earth. Each person whom she encountered was greeted with a smile, a hug, and an “I love you” even if she had just met them— and she meant it, too. She loved all of God’s children with a spirit of love that we should all aspire to have.

Barbara loved many things in life, especially: her family, the color red, the Statler Brothers, cardinal birds, trains, working puzzles, embroidering and attending French’s Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church. However, there was something she loved perhaps even more: the promise of knowing she would one day go to Heaven where she would meet Jesus as well as be reunited with her dad, her grandma, her beloved dog Peanut, and all those who had gone on before her.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Emory C. “Duder” Woodyard Jr. She is survived by her Mother, Jean White Woodyard of Poplar Hill; one brother, Wayne and wife Libby of Poplar Hill; one sister, Martha Miller and husband Jerry of Tappahannock, VA; nephews and nieces, Anthony Woodyard of Christiansburg, Thomas Woodyard of Poplar Hill, Justin Miller and wife Heather of Radford; Rachelle Lafon of Christiansburg, Alisha Jones and husband Mark of Pembroke; and Brian Lafon and wife Amber of Johnson City, TN; and a multitude of extended family and friends.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Highland Ridge Rehab Center in Dublin for providing excellent care to Barbara during the last 17 months of her life.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, with Rev. David Wood officiating.
