Woodyard, Albert Linkous
Albert Linkous Woodyard, 58, of Swords Creek, Va., passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tenn. Linkous was born on August 7, 1951, on Little Creek in Pulaski County, Va. Preceding him in death were his father, the Rev. Ray Woodyard; father-in-law, Ballard Belcher; two year old son, Richard Linkous Woodyard; and infant granddaughter, Tessa Nicole Woodyard.
Surviving Linkous are his loving wife, Laura Belcher Woodyard; his mother, Gladys Marie Woodyard, of Dublin, Va.; mother-in-law, Rosemary Belcher, of Honaker, Va.; four children, Albert Anthony Woodyard and wife, Nancy, of Greensboro, N.C., Gregory Dean Woodyard and wife, Jennifer, of Blacksburg, Va., Crystal Gail Woodyard, of Roanoke, Va., and Sylvia Marie Woodyard, of Radford, Va.; three stepdaughters, Becky Mendoza and husband, Lawrence, of Landsdowne, Va., Leslie McClanahan and husband, Terry, of Claypool Hill, Va., and Tiffany Bowman and husband, Chris, of Bandy, Va. Linkous and Laura have seven grandchildren, Tyler, Ashley, Charlsie, Cheyenne, Trevon, Tatiana, and Katrina.
Linkous will be sadly missed by all in his family including his brothers and sisters, Cadle Woodyard and wife, Peggy, Wayne Woodyard and wife, Bonnie, Lois Wright and husband, Darnell, Larry Woodyard and wife, Brenda, Sandra Watson and husband, Kenny, and Ethelene Sadler and husband, David, all from the Little Creek Community in Dublin, Va.; Donnie Woodyard and wife, Patty, of Bane, Va.; and brothers-in-law, Larry Belcher and wife, Loretta, and Barry Belcher, of Honaker, Va.
Sharing in grief are many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Linkous has been a loyal employee of E. Dillon & Company in Swords Creek for the past 24 years and attends The Bible Way Church of Big A Mountain in Honaker. His love for God and his family was evident in every part of his life.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2009, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Honaker Funeral Home, 4686 Redbud Highway, in Honaker, Va. Services for Linkous will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2009, also at the Honaker Funeral Home with the Rev. Clenard Thornsberry officiating. Burial will follow at the Fletcher Cemetery in Honaker, Va. His nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are his co-workers and friends from E. Dillon & Company.
