Patricia Smith (Pat) Woodward, 76, died July 24, 2012, at Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, N.C. She was born in Radford on December 31, 1935, to the late Dr. Richard and Nona Smith, and graduated from Radford High School in 1952.

She earned a degree in Physical Therapy from Mary Washington College in 1956 and a certificate of Physical Therapy from Duke University in 1958. She married the late Fred Woodward in 1963, and had resided in Brevard, N.C. since 1982.

Pat is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jeff Walker and their daughters, Kayla, Kelsey and Anna Grace, of Etowah, N.C.; her son, Fred Woodward, of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers and their wives, Tom and Norma Smith of Pembroke, and Dr. Richard and Mary Smith, of Harrisonburg; sister-in-law and her husband, Mary Ann and Grover Simpkins, of Radford; nine nieces and two nephews and their families; her beloved cat, Katie; and three “granddogs”.

She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed by her wide circle of friends and family.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on August 7, 2012, at St. Philips Episcopal Church in Brevard, N.C., followed by a reception for friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Lung Association , Sjogren’s Syndrome Foundation or Pulmonary Hypertension Association.
