John Edwin Woodson, 60, of Woodson Road, Cashmere, WV, passed away, Sunday, November 29, 2015 at his home following a short illness. He was born October 4, 1955 at Roanoke, VA and was the son of the late John B. and Donna Hemmings Woodson.

John was retired from the Monroe County Board of Education as a Health and Physical Education Teacher for 31 years. He loved to work on his beloved Maplewood Farm. John attended the Peterstown Missionary Baptist Church, was a member of the WV Cattleman’s Association, Angus Association, President of the Narrows Livestock Market, Board Member for the WVU Extension Office, member of the NRA and Founder and Coach of the Peterstown Archery Team. He was well known for his various coaching positions throughout Monroe County.

Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Patricia Moore Woodson, two daughters, Heather Clarkson and husband Shawn of Cashmere, WV and Amanda Sisk and husband Chad of Danese, WV, two grandchildren, Max and Carolyn Clarkson, sister, Jennifer “Jenny” Woodson and husband Brad “Zeke” Davis of Charleston, WV, aunt, Nancy Woodson of Richmond, VA, numerous cousins, friends, farming buddies, and his K9 farming buddies, Zoey and Bo.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM, Friday, December 4, 2015 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John Sauvage, Pastor Bryan Pruett and Pastor David Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Memorial Gardens, Lindside, WV. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, December 3, 3015 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations of sympathy be made to the Monroe County Archery Teams, c/o Peterstown Middle School – 36 College Drive, Peterstown, WV 24963.
