Woods, Roy Abe

Roy Abe Woods, 98, of Christiansburg, departed this life Thursday morning, February 1, 2007 at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg following a short illness. Born in Roanoke County on October 30, 1908, he was a son of the late Abe and Amanda Ellis Woods.

He was a veteran of the US Army, World War II, and earned his living as a millwright.

His son, Frank William Woods, a grandson, Curtis Dale Woods, his brothers, Leonard, Frank and Griff Woods and a sister, Ida Morris preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Audrey Lafon Woods; two sons, Ralph Woods of Lakeland, Florida and Robert and his wife Lola Woods of Salem; six grandchildren, Mike and Karen Woods of Richmond, Linda Whitt of Roanoke, Judy Woods of Blacksburg, Alvin and Angie Woods of Salem, Becky Lynn and Michael Wilson, Robert Woods, Jr. of Elliston; nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and two special friends, Tootsie and Samantha.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in Sunset Cemetery at Christiansburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before services.
