Charles Edward Woodfin, Jr. (Ed), 73, of Dublin, Va., formerly of Chesterfield, Va., departed this life February 28, 2009. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Helen, brother Everett, niece Gail Felts, and brother-in-law John Berger.

Ed is survived by his son, Scott and wife, Missy; daughter, Wendy Dalton and husband, Keith; grandchildren, Brittney DeGraffenried and husband, Dominque; Brad, Samantha, and Zachary; special friends, Col. Dallas L. and Betty Cox; sister, Carol Berger, sister, Judy Hall and husband, Ronnie, sister, Wanda January and husband, Mark; sister-in-law, Montene; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ed, a U.S. Army veteran, is retired from the VA State Parks service. Formerly he was a Chesterfield County Police officer, a past Master of the Dublin Masonic Lodge, and brick mason by trade. Ed was President of Toastmaster’s Club, and a member of the OFC.

A memorial service will be held Monday March 2, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at the Dublin United Methodist Church, 424 E. Main St. Dublin, VA 24084, with the Reverend Bill Rowland officiating.

A memorial celebration will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2009 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Swift Creek Baptist Church, 7511 N. Spring Run Rd., Midlothian, VA 23112. In honor of Ed’s wishes, his remains were donated to the State Anatomical Program. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Dublin United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
