Julia Chambers Wood, age 90, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Born July 19, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Kester and Pearl Dillon.

She retired from Walmart after working several years as a greeter. One of Julia’s greatest joys was going to church, singing, and playing the piano. Additionally, she enjoyed her trips to Tennessee.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Alvon Chambers; her second husband, Phil Wood Sr.; two sons, Rusty and Jody Chambers; and one stepdaughter, Martha Wood Nester. She was also preceded in death by six sisters and one brother, making her the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Clarkson (Gary) of Gap Mills, WV, and Amy Chambers (Kevin Wolfe) of Peterstown, WV; stepson, Phil Wood Jr. (Ramona) of Narrows, VA; three grandchildren, Stacey Clarkson, Sasha Hill, and Hunter Chambers; one great grandchild, Waylon Hill; and very special friend, Marie Woolwine of Christiansburg, VA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the North Narrows Tabernacle in Narrows, VA (308 Warner Street), with Pastor Paul Terry officiating. Burial will follow at the Peterstown Cemetery in Rich Creek, VA. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until time of services on Sunday at the Church.
