wolf victor william jrVictor William Wolf Jr, 54, died suddenly on Monday, March 26, 2012, at 8:30 p.m. He was in his home in Blacksburg, when he was overcome by anaphylactic shock.

He was born on July 20, 1957, in Roanoke to Victor William Wolf Sr. and Nancy Van Rensslaer Wolf. As an only child, he enjoyed the full and undivided attention of his parents. He attended Furman College and graduated with a BFA in History, going on to attain a Masters of Divinity degree from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Mo.

He married Peggy Ann Wilbins on August 13, 1983. Together, they moved back to Roanoke and he became the Senior Pastor of Valley Reformed Presbyterian Church. Victor and Peggy gave birth to three sons during his time as pastor, Andrew, Richard, and Stephen. In 1994, Victor and his family returned to St. Louis to allow him to earn a Masters of Arts in Counseling, and in 1996 they settled back in Virginia, this time in Blacksburg.

Victor served as Associate Pastor and Elder for Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, a Licensed Practicing Counselor, and a Therapist for sex offenders. Victor was a strong and devoted Christian man, who took great pains to love and minister to his wife and children. He was always eager to tackle an issue, and had a never-ending wealth of knowledge that seemed to branch out to all subjects.

His favorite passions were high-end sport cars (particularly his beloved BMW M3), electronics, music of all kinds and genres, movies, and firearms. His sense of humor was renowned for its offbeat, raucous nature; it was a rare day in the Wolf household that did not hear peals of Victor’s laughter ringing from his office walls as he browsed the Internet for humorous media.

Although he enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, Victor was a truly intelligent and gifted man. He often served as a mentor to young couples alongside Peggy, and was sure to have a Scripturally sound answer for any number of theologically or philosophically difficult questions. In his later years, Victor’s service to the community and to others often took up all of his time, making it difficult to see his beloved wife. Despite the lonely and isolating nature of his position, Victor never stopped serving. He was in the process of changing responsibilities in order to spend more time with Peggy when the Lord called him home. He can truly be said to have lived the life of a humble Christian father and husband.

His wife, Peggy Wolf; his son, Andrew Lord Wolf and wife, Michelle; his son, Richard Franz Wolf; his son, Stephen Spencer Wolf; and his mother, Nancy Van Rensslaer Wolf, survive Victor. Please make any donations to Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church at 2101 Shadowlake Road, Blacksburg, VA 24060. A Memorial Service celebrating Victor’s life will be held at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2012. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. 540-552-3211.
