Mrs. Jeanette Nixon Wohlford, 85, went to be with the Lord on May 15, 2007, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Riner, VA. on October 5, 1921, to the late Wellington Lee and Clara Richardson Nixon. She was a faithful member at Covenant Presbyterian Church while her health permitted. Mrs. Wohlford worked at and retired from King’s Department Store. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Preceding her in death was a sister, Verbena Ayers. Surviving is her husband of 65 years, Ralph Lee Wohlford; three sons, Stephen Wohlford and wife Jane of Clemmons, Roger Wohlford and wife Eve of Greenwood, S.C. and Richard Wohlford and wife Melanie of Lewisville; four grandchildren, Amy Fearrington, Lori Saunders, Colin Wohlford, and Tristan Wohlford; three great-grandchildren, Kayla and Sydney Fearrington and Ryan Saunders known to her as “little one”; also surviving is a sister, Almena Criner of Christiansburg, Va.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2007 at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Conley officiating. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3627 Konnoak Dr. W-S, North Carolina 27127 or to Hospice and Palliative Care Center 101 Hospice Lane W-S, North Carolina 27103.

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to her husband, Ralph, her son, Richard, and especially to her daughter-in-law, Melanie, for their many hours of loving care provided to Jeanette in her last years of life.
