Witherspoon, Venita Willis

Venita Willis Witherspoon, 83, of Blacksburg, died Sunday, December 23, 2007, at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

She was born in Waynesville, N.C. on August 11, 1924, to the late Mance and Evangeline Mae Willis. She worked with the Red Cross, food bank, clothing bank and the Garden Club for many years. She was a member and former Chairman of the Deacons and the second female Deacon at Blacksburg Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Carl A. Witherspoon Jr., of Blacksburg; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark E. and Judy Witherspoon, of Blacksburg, Barry K. and Judy Witherspoon, of Blacksburg, Paul K. Witherspoon, of San Diego, Calif., and Alan B. Witherspoon, of Blacksburg and ten grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 28, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the Blacksburg Baptist Church, with Dr. Ray Allen and Dr. Don McKinney officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
