wisman melba frostMelba Frost Wisman went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday evening, July 12, 2013. She was born in Norfolk to Clara Ellen and John Lawrence Frost. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Lee Wisman (Chick).

She is survived by her two sons, Everett L. Wisman Jr. (Rett) and wife, Cathy, John Phillip Wisman and wife, Susan; and one daughter, Grace Wisman Carpenter and husband, Lanse Carpenter. She was blessed with six grandchildren, Brooke Wisman Delp and husband, Dan, Corey Wisman Marino and husband, Tre, Collin L. Wisman and wife, Jessica, Anna E. Lockwood and husband, Brad, Jenna G. Renqvist and husband, Robbi, and Christopher L. Carpenter. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, Rex, Willow, and Worthy Delp, and Jerry and Mia Marino. Melba graduated from Granby High School in Norfolk and James Madison University in Harrisonburg. She taught at Blair Jr. High School in Norfolk, Margaret Beeks Elementary School, Blacksburg Middle School and later substituted at Blacksburg High School. She was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha, Beta Epsilon Chapter and Kappa Delta Pi, Honorary Teaching Society. She was active in Blacksburg Presbyterian Church and was inducted as a lifelong member of Presbyterian Women. She was a member for over 50 years. Melba served the church in many ways, teaching Sunday school, serving on various committees, leading circle and Bible studies, and serving as Vice Moderator for the Presbyterian Women from 2000 to 2003. She shared her talent for playing piano by filling in at Pearisburg for both the Baptist and Presbyterian churches there. Last, but not least, she loved writing poems and wrote many via emails, always giving praise and thanks to God. Memorial services will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, in the Blacksburg Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Catherine Taylor and the Rev. Brian Burch officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
