John Alexander Wiseman, 89, of Dublin, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Pulaski Community Hospital. Born November 4, 1918 in Summers County, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Perry Alexander Wiseman and Margaret Ann Thompson Wiseman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Buford Wiseman and son-in-law, Thomas Henry Maxwell, Sr.

He was retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant with over 34 years of service. Mr. Wiseman was a long time member of the Dublin Baptist Church where he taught a men’s Sunday school class for 55 years; drove the WRE bus for the children’s religious education program and for many years directed the choir.

Surviving his wife of 67 years, Maxine Wills Wiseman of Dublin; children, Treasa Anne Maxwell of Crozet, Dexter Leon Wiseman and wife, Barbara of Dublin, Donald Ray Wiseman and wife, Carlene of Chester; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Naomi Ruth Payton of Columbus, Ohio, Wanda Hope Dillon of Cleveland, Ohio, Crystal Mae Huffman of Baltimore, Md.; brothers, Denver Wiseman of Hinton, W.Va., Raymond Wiseman of Hinton, W.Va., Perry Wiseman of Covington, Roger Wiseman of Covington.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Dublin Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Jones officiating. Entombment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Dublin. The family will received friends Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Dublin Baptist Church.
