Ronald H. Wirt Sr., 72, of Johns Creek Road, New Castle, Va. and formerly of Ridgeway, Va. passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2009.

Ronnie was a retired business agent for Teamsters Local 22 in Collinsville, Va. A member of the Forks of Johns Creek Christian Church. He served four years in the United States Air Force and honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He was a proud member of Christiansburg High School graduating class of 1953 of whom he enjoyed staying in contact.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd H. and Pauline McGuire Wirt; a sister, Christine W. Graham; brother-in-law, Dr. Charlie Boatwright; and a sister-in-law, Moncella N. Gray.

Surviving family are his wife, Nagatha (Gaye); sons and their spouses, Ronald H. Jr. and Ann M. Wirt, of Gloucester, Va., Donald L. and Gina B. Wirt, of Martinsville, Va. and their mother, Jane H. Wirt, of Fieldale, Va.; grandchildren are Nathan H. Wirt, of Gloucester, Va., Jacob B. Wirt, of Martinsville, Zachary L. and Mandy C. Wirt and great-grandson, Braxton L. Wirt of Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Also surviving is a sister, Bonnie W. Boatwright, of Christiansburg, Va.; nieces and their spouses, Tracie G. and Kent Jimenez, of Richardson, Texas, Kathy G. and Fred Leno III and their son, Fred IV, of Jupiter, Fla. and Kim Graham, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; stepchildren, Regina and Darren Pritt, of Pinch, W.Va., Russell W. Cockram, of Axton, Va. and Paul L. and Angie M. Cockram, of Ridgeway, Va.; step grandchildren, Paul L. Jr. and Samantha Cockram, of Martinsville, Va., Megan Cockram, of Ridgeway, Va., Logan and Cheyenne Pritt, Brittny and Drew Arbogast and stepgreat-grandson, Andrew Arbogast, of Pinch, W.Va. and Ft. Eustis, Va.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ted Graham, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Cecil and Agnes Newman, of Meadows, of Dan, Va., Garvin and Janice Newman, of Orange City, Fla., Aubrey and Mavis Newman, of Daleville, Va., Elroy and Iva Newman of Lynchburg, Va.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelena and Joe Dalton, of Meadows, of Dan, Va., Betty Jenkins, of Ridgeway, Va., Violet and Marvin Rorrer and Wanetta Doss, of Stuart, Va.

The funeral will be conducted at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., SW, Blacksburg, Va. on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at 2 p.m. with ministers Bill Fraizer and Hershel Stone officiating. Burial will be in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at 2880 N. Franklin St., Christiansburg, Va. The body will lie in state for family visitation at his church, Forks of Johns Creek Christian Church from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2009. Family visitation will also be at McCoy Funeral Home at 150 Country Club Dr., SW, Blacksburg, Va. Saturday, September 26, 2009 from 5 to 8 p.m.
