Wimmer, Rita Hicks

Rita Y. Hicks Wimmer, age 77, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023. Born July 12, 1946, in Bluefield, WV, she was the daughter of the late Earl George and Ruth Lillian Witt Hicks.

Rita worked for many years as a Nursing Assistant for Princeton Healthcare. She enjoyed flower gardening and playing cards and Yahtzee with her grandbabies. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister who dearly loved her family, especially her grandbabies and great grandbabies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald David Wimmer; and sisters, Sandra P. Hicks and Aleta Joe Hicks. Survivors include two daughters, Doris Suttle and husband Scott of Rich Creek, VA, and Angela King and husband Patrick of Lewisburg, WV; one son, Charles “Ricky” Wimmer of Rich Creek, VA; four grandchildren, Erik Suttle and wife Sherry, Catlin Suttle and wife Kaycie, John Michael King, and Lillie King; two great grandchildren, Penelope Jane and Berkley Lynn; one brother, Michael Hicks and wife Emily; and two sisters, Letitia Hicks, and Shirley Hicks Wimmer and husband Roger.

In keeping with Rita’s wishes, she will be cremated with no services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Rita’s honor to Carilion Clinic Hospice (701 Randolph Street, Radford, VA 24141).
