Calvin Barry Wimmer, 80 of Narrows, Virginia departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior on February 2, 2023 with the love of his family by his side and in the care of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Giles County on June 26, 1942 he was a son of the late Raymond and Ina Warner Wimmer.

Calvin proudly served his country as a S4 E4in the United States Army. He later devoted himself to his community working production at Celanese, then with the American Legion. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He practiced his faith in being a member of Bethel Chapel in the community of Clendennin. In life his greatest joy was his family, especially his granddaughter, Emilee. In his leisure he enjoyed traveling, going to the beach and scuba diving with his daughter, Lora.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Wimmer.

Left to cherish his memory to their hearts are his wife, Gayle Meadows Wimmer; daughter, Lora Comer (Michael) of Princeton, WV; granddaughter, Emilee Comer Turner (Adrian); great-grandson, Micah Turner; a brother, Danny Wimmer of Tennessee; sisters, Loretta Brown of Narrows, VA, Sarah Callaghan of Roanoke, Brenda Hylton of Vinton, and Becky White (Tennis) of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Bethel Chapel in the Clendennin community in Narrows, Virginia with Pastors Eddie Kendall and Earl Riggs officiating. Funeral services will conclude on Sunday, February 5, 2023, in the Fairview Cemetery with full Military Honors given. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Bethel Chapel. A guestbook is available to send condolences by visiting www.kendallfuneralhome.com.
