Marvin Glenn Wilson, 86, of Galax, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018. He worked for the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service for many years with his last assignment in Floyd County from 1963 until his retirement in 1987.

He was a former member of Floyd Baptist Church and was currently a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Galax. Glenn was well-known in Floyd, Carroll, and Grayson counties for his talents in singing and playing bluegrass and old time music.

He was born in Carroll County on August 30, 1931, and was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Elizabeth Vass Wilson and two sisters, Norma Fay Wilson and Flora Wilson Shaw.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Williams Wilson of the home, one daughter, Kay W. Vest, Roanoke; one son Greg Wilson, Floyd; one granddaughter, Kacie Vest, Roanoke; one sister, Ilene Burcham, Waddell Nursing Home, Galax.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 1218 South Main Street, Galax, with the Reverend James Cowley officiating.

Interment will follow at Coal Creek Memorial Park. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Grayson VFW Post #7726

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Hillcrest Baptist Church.
