Wilson, Darrell Andrew

“ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Darrell Andrew “Andy” Wilson, 50, of Ripplemead, Va departed this life Sunday, February 24, 2019 surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Alexandria, Va on June 25, 1968. He was a son of the late Robert Donald “Bobby” Wilson and Peggy Ann Wilson of Pembroke, Va.

He was employed at Virginia Tech Power Plant 17+ years of service and a former 14 year employee of Chemical Lime Company. Andy was a devoted son, husband, and father who loved to fish and hunt. All those who knew Andy came to admire and respect him as a man of few words and hard work.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loyal wife of 32+ years, Teresa Rice Wilson. His daughter Brittney Wilson Whittaker and husband Clinton, his son Ryan Andrew Wilson and fiancée Jacquelyn Keeney. His brothers David Wilson (Kristi), Earl Wilson (Melanie), sisters Donna Wilson, Anna Taylor (Jimmy), and Missy Kilgore. His special friend, his chocolate lab Jake. His extended family Sharon Carbaugh and the late Leon Carbaugh, Tyler Carbaugh and girlfriend Danielle Graham, Henry and Lynne Rice, Chad and Jennifer Rice, Andy Rice, Mark and Robin Rice, Paul and Linda Rice, uncles Timmy, Wayne, and Michael Shifflett and many other cherished family members.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens of New River Valley in Blacksburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5 until 8 pm. .
