William Alvin (Al) Williams, 94 of Caudill St. in Pearisburg went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning September 9, 2006 at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg.

Born at Berton in Giles County on January 10, 1912 he was a son of the late William Alexander and Margaret Sue Wallace Williams. Al was a foreman for Celanese Fibers Co. at Narrows serving 33 years and was a member of Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead. He was preceded in death by his first wife Olive Munsey Williams and two sisters Leta Pearl Williams and Goodwil W. Stafford.

He leaves to cherish his memory his faithful and beloved wife Louise Clark Williams; son and daughter-in-law Edward Jerry and Margaret Williams of Marshall; step-sons and their wives Kevin and Kathy Smith of Delaplane, Todd and Carol Smith of Bluefield, VA; three grandchildren Tony Williams of Richmond, Terri W. Gordon of Vinton, Pvt. F.Cl Jeremiah Seth Williams of Hawaii; a great-grandchild Madison Faith Gordon of Vinton; a sister Ola F. Williams of Bristol, TN.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday September 12, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead with Pastor Shahn Wilburn and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Entombment will follow at Birchlawn Abbey in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM. The family would like to express their appreciation to Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek for their excellent care the last four years and to Giles Memorial Hospital for loving and tender care to Al. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to Riverview Baptist Church, Faith Promise Missionary Fund, P.O. Box 206, Ripplemead, Va 24150.
