Nora Lafon Williams, 89, of Smith Hollow Road in Pembroke, departed this life Saturday morning April 28, 2007 at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg.

Born at Kire in Giles County on May 28, 1917 she was a daughter of the late Miles Arthur and Virginia Martin Lafon. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint, New River Ward, in Pembroke and was retired from Food Service at VPI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Noel E.J. Williams, Sr., a son, E.J. Williams, Jr., a brother, Shannon Lafon, three sisters, Zada Martin, Helen Kelley, and Beatrice Stiff. She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Richard Allen Williams and his wife Linda of Hampton, Va.; two daughters, Wanda W. Jones of Pembroke, Gail W. Smith and her husband Rodney of Pembroke; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Lafon of Pembroke and Richard Lafon of Manassas, Va.; a sister, Mae L. Stafford and her husband Walter of Chester, Va.; two pets that she loved, Tinker and Rosey, and many other beloved friends and relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the church Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. The Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke is serving the Williams family.
