Williams, Mildred Josephine Songer

Mildred Josephine Songer Williams, 80, of Givens Lane in Blacksburg, Va., went to be with the angels on Sunday, September 13, 2009, at 5:23 p.m. at her home after a long illness. She was born in Giles County on August 16, 1929.

She had a talent to make some very beautiful crafts.

Mildred is survived by her children, Frankie Jean Smith, of Blacksburg, Racheal Dianna and Lester Green, of Blacksburg, Rose Marie and Fred Revizzo, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Deborah Ann and Bobbie Calfee. of Welch, W.Va., Robert Michael Williams, of Hoges Chapel, and Charles Edward Williams, of Christiansburg; her sisters, Alma Delois Conoyer, of Missouri, and Annamae King of Tennessee; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by her mother, Amanda Elizabeth Sanders Songer; her father, Francis Marion Songer; her husband, William Andrew Williams; her son, William Powell Williams; one greatgranddaughter, Ryan Nicole Chasin; five brothers, Frank Marion Songer, Andrew Lee Songer, John Donald Songer, Bobby Patrol Songer, and Harry Gene Songer; and her sisters, Mary Magdalene Sarver, Ruth Elizabeth Ratcliff, and Maud Kathleen Lytton.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2009, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke. Burial will follow in the Lucas Cemetery at Newport.
