Martin D. (Marty) Williams, 65, of 5553 Alum Spring Road, Pulaski, Va. has gone home to be with the Lord after loosing his battle to cancer at his home on Monday, November 19, 2007.

He was born in Wythe County on October 21, 1942 and was the son of the late William R. Williams and Ruby Anderson Williams Jones. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Frank T. Jones; by two brothers, Charles and Frankie Williams; and a sister, Lois A. Hoback.

Marty was a veteran of the United States Army with two tours of duty in Vietnam and he was a truck driver for Pulaski Furniture for 28 years and for Pulaski Senior Services. Marty was a member of the Abundant Life Ministries, Pulaski.

Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Shirley Ross Williams of Pulaski; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Crystal Williams of Pulaski; stepdaughter, Sherri L. Anderson of Pulaski; grandchildren, Stevie D. Phillips of Pulaski, Cory W. Phillips, U.S.M.C., of Pulaski, Dusty A. Phillips of Pulaski, Nathan C. Williams of Pulaski, Morgan L. Williams of Pulaski; twin sister and her husband, Martha and Glen Martin of Pulaski; sister, Marlene Eastburn of Roanoke; special aunt , Julia A. Hawkins of Pulaski; uncles, Kenneth Anderson of Pulaski, Junior Anderson of Pulaski; several special nieces and nephews; and special friend, Sammy Saunders.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 23, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Abundant Life Ministries, Pulaski with the Rev. Randall Lawrence and the Rev. Chester Linkous officiating. Burial will Follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin.

Visiting will be Thursday evening, November 22, 2007 from Abundant Life Ministries where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
