Lida Helen Williams, 87, of Hillside Apartments in Pearisburg, Va., and formerly of Big Stony Creek, departed this life peacefully at home and in the loving care of her family on Sunday evening, September 21, 2008.

Born in Kerns, now Goldbond, on January 6, 1921, she was a daughter of the late George and Ruby Hilton Niece. She was a devout Christian and for many years a member of the Goldbond Gospel Tabernacle serving as a Sunday School Teacher and was now a member of Evangelistic Holiness Chapel in Pembroke.

A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, she was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Paul Williams; her son, Kenneth Leroy Williams; her daughter, Louise Marie Mills; her brothers, Albert, Billy and Buddy Niece; and her sisters, Leuna Martin, Annie Sanders, Carmen Elmore and Mary Kast.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Alvin Caudill Williams, of Blacksburg, and Benny Ray Williams, of Hoges Chapel; her daughters, Betty Jo Price, of Salem, Brenda Heckman, of Rich Creek, Clara Jean McCroskey, of Pearisburg, and Kathy Neal King, of Salem; a sister, Bonnie Epperly, of Christiansburg; 16 grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren.

A Christian Celebration of Lida’s Life will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday September 23, 2008, in The Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with her Pastor Merle Hedrick and Pastor Eddie Kendall. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours before the services.
