Ida Lou Compton Williams, 83, of Shawsville, beloved wife of George (June) Williams, entered her heavenly home on Saturday, May 21, 2011. The daughter of the late Robert E. and Kathryn Compton was born on April 27, 1928, in Montgomery County in which she lived all her life. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Compton; and sister, Martha Ann Richardson.

She was a member of White Memorial United Church of Shawsville for 70+ years. She worked in the nursing home business for over 30 years. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed reading, sewing, and flowers.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, June; daughter, Carol Watterson (Steve), of Shawsville, Va.; and son, Jimmy Williams (Laurie), also of Shawsville. She was “Granny” to seven and “GrannyGreat” to 17. She is also survived by two sisters, Louise Card, of Sun City West, Ariz., and Margaret Moore (Lewis), of Roanoke, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at the White Memorial United Methodist Church in Shawsville from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a Memorial Service following at 2 p.m. and a reception following in the church fellowship hall.

The family would like to express our sincere thanks to the nursing staff of 2W at Richfield Nursing Care Center and Amedisys Hospice for all of their love and care given to our loved one.
