Williams, Elsie Ann

Elsie Ann Williams, 85 of Pembroke, VA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 3, 2019 in Lewis-Gale Salem Hospital. Elsie was born on April 26, 1934 in Pembroke and was a daughter of the late Sam Hampton Williams and Ruby Louise Cumbee Williams.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her lifelong partner Franklin D. Neely, two brothers, Lee Roy Williams, Grady B. Williams and one sister, Carol W. Wood.

Elsie was a lifelong member of the Church, a devout follower of Jesus Christ who read the bible daily. She strove to be a light for Jesus Christ. She devoted her life to the caregiving of others, including many families in the area with a special relationship to the Croy family in Pearisburg. She and Frank traveled many miles over the years to many church gatherings where they enjoyed singing together.

She is survived by two sisters, Sylvia W. Johnson of Pembroke, Barbara W. Heathcoat (Fred) of Decaturville, TN, numerous nieces, nephews and special nephew Bruce Johnson (Erica) and children.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 2pm at The Church of Jesus Christ, 570 Castle Rock Dr., Pembroke with Pastor Brian Cumbee officiating with the committal service following on Monday at 10am at the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg Saturday evening from 6 – 8 pm.
