Williams, Elinor Elizabeth

Elinor ‘Tootsie’ Elizabeth Williams, 84 of Christiansburg, passed away September 17, 2024. She was born in Wythe County and grew up in the Fairview section of the county.

She attended the one room school at Fairview before attending George Wythe High School, graduating in 1957. Elinor started her career as a secretary to lawyers Parsons & Arthur in Wytheville. When Mr. Arthur was appointed as judge, she became his secretary. After his retirement, she came to Montgomery County and became a Magistrate from which she retired after 25 years of service.

Elinor was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Maude Williams; twin sister, Ola Stowers; brother-in-law, Charles Stowers; and nephew, Robert Crigger.

She is survived by nieces, Margaret Crigger, RenĂ©e Spradling (Chris), all of Christiansburg; great-nieces, Allison DePoy (Adam) of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Haley Killian, Chiana Spradling, both of Christiansburg; great-nephew, Sam Crigger of Radford; great-great-nephew, Christian DePoy of Grand Rapids, Michigan; as well as special cousins, Betsy, Heather, and Charles ‘Chucky’ Earhart, Shirley Sutton, and Sharon Dalton.

Many thanks to the staff at Commonwealth Senior Living in Christiansburg for the care she received over the past 8 years. A very special thank you to Vickie a/k/a Esther and Melissa for their wonderful care for the past 2 years.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 1-2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Graveside Services will follow at 3 p.m. at Fairview United Methodist Church, Wytheville, VA.
