Williams, Barbara Jean
Barbara Jean Williams, age 88, of Peterstown, went home peacefully on Monday, March 20, 2017, surrounded by her family.
Barbara Jean was born May 16, 1928, in Giles County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Oather and Thelma Ferguson. She was a retired employee of Celanese Corporation with 47 years of service. She was a member of Peterstown Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lacy D. Williams; her brother, Henry “Bud” Ferguson; and two sisters, Aleen Clemons and Peggy Smith. Survivors include her daughter, Donna Kay and husband Timothy Darrell McKlarney of Peterstown; and the pride and joy of her life, her grandsons, Christopher Patrick McKlarney and wife Nicole, Timothy Sean McKlarney, and great grandsons Jacob, Isaac, and Ethan McKlarney. She is also survived by a sister, Nancy Holmes of Tarlboro, North Carolina; a brother, Danny Ferguson of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a very special thanks to Dr. Richard Shorter who provided her with wonderful care and provided her family with compassion and encouragement. We would like to thank Lisa Riggs who was always willing to sit with her on any day and at any time, and also her caregivers over the past ten years, Brenda Blevins, Helen Blevins, Jeannie Ostendorf, and Bonnie McDaniel. We would also like to send a special thanks to the Greenbrier Valley Hospice for the time that we were able to have you with us. Thank you for being on this blessed journey with us that God allowed us to have.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, WV, with Donald Henegar officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 1:00 PM until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Williams Family Cemetery, Green Valley Road, Peterstown. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, great-grandsons, and Bryan Reed. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Peterstown Christian Church Youth Fund.
