Katie Nolley Willard, 82, of Christiansburg, Va., died suddenly on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at Montgomery Regional Hospital where she was admitted the previous Friday. She passed away from complications of broken bones and cancer that had been in remission for several years.

Mrs. Willard was born on July 4, 1925 in Riner, Va., the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Nolley and Elizabeth Weaver Nolley. She graduated from Auburn High School. She lived most of her life in Christiansburg.

She married the late Samuel Wallace Willard on January 25, 1944 and was married to him until his death on March 28, 2003. In addition to her parents and husband of 59 years, she was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Nolley Palmer and Juanita Nolley Turner; and one brother, Thomas Jefferson Nolley.

She is survived by twin sons, Barry Wallace Willard and Garry Thomas Willard, both of Christiansburg; and two daughters, Lynn Willard Ward of North Tazewell and Rita Willard O’Rourke of Virginia Beach. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2007 at Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel and will be conducted by the Rev. Sebert Rorrer.
