Wilburn, Larry Wayne

Larry Wayne Wilburn, age 75, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at the Highland Ridge Rehab Center in Dublin, VA. Born April 8, 1948, in Rich Creek, VA, he was the son of the late Floyd Jackson Wilburn and Mary Ellen Blankenship Wilburn.

Larry was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and lifetime member of the American Legion Post 68 in Narrows, VA. He worked several different jobs, including at the arsenal in Radford, VA. Larry loved his goats and was known by many as a goat farmer. Above all, Larry was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Louise Trent, W.C. Wilburn, Clovis Wilburn, Robie Wilburn, Rosa Lee Cox, and Barbara Wilburn. Those left to cherish Larry’s memory include his loving wife of 46 years, Sylvia Ball Wilburn of the home; one daughter, Crystal Wilburn Evans of Christiansburg, VA; two grandchildren, Ceilia Evans and Isaac Evans; stepson, S. Troy Fisher and wife Carla of Christiansburg, VA; son-in-law, Mike Evans and wife Lori of Pearisburg, VA; one brother, Marshall Wilburn and wife Sharon; one sister, Carrie Ellen Shires; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Funeral services with military rites will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Barry Harper officiating. Burial will follow at the Peterstown Cemetery in Rich Creek, VA. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.
