Wilburn, Barbara Ann

Barbara Ann Wilburn, 77, of Pearisburg, VA, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022. She was born August 29, 1945 in Giles County, the daughter of the late Floyd Jackson & Mary Ellen Blankenship Wilburn.

Barbara owned her own tax office and offered tax services through H&R Block for over 35 years. She loved going to the beach. She was an avid Giles Spartan Fan. She was a secret philanthropist and secretly supported Giles Spartan ball teams, making sure all players had their uniforms and letterman jackets, relieving the financial burden of those who could not afford them.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Jackson & Mary Ellen Blankenship Wilburn, her husband, Harvey Greene Wilburn, her sons, Jackie Stump, Thomas (“TJ”) Wilburn and Charles Wilburn, her brothers, Robie Wilburn, Clovis Wilburn and William (“WC”) Wilburn and her sisters, Louise Trent and Rosa Lee Cox.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter & son-in-law, Cathy & Richie Thomas; her step-son & daughter-in-law, Mike & Cheryl Wilburn; her grandchildren, Casey Wilburn, Justin Wilburn, Chance Rogers, Diana Thomas, Marcus Thomas, Sean Thomas, Lyla Thomas, Nicole Thomas, Liam Thomas, Alexa Thomas, Carter Thomas and Easton Thomas; brothers & sisters-in-law, Marshall & Sharon Wilburn and Larry Wayne & Sylvia Wilburn; her sister, Ellen Shires; several nieces, nephews and special friends; and her cat companion, “Meanous.”

The family will receive friends Friday, September 23, 2022 at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Fairview Cemetery with Charles Henderson officiating.
